Description

The Enterprise365 strand aims to incubate and support innovations from social enterprises, social businesses or social entrepreneurs or social enterprise models (the Enterprise) aligned with sport for sustainable development. Social enterprises are businesses aiming to profit, which in turn funds social initiatives for the benefit of society. Enterprise365 will fund innovations that promote income generation models and sustainable finance solutions to advance sport for sustainable development. Additionally, it enables replenishable funds to invest in growing or supporting further innovation in sport for sustainable development. The Enterprises and their innovations must be connected to sport to tackle social challenges and achieve sustainable development.  

Enterprise365 will be separated into two funding tiers:   

  1. Seed: Funding for newly registered enterprises/ businesses/ entrepreneurs (up to 2 years), those in the process of registering as a social enterprise/ business/ entrepreneur (which would require supporting proof) and other registered non-profits with a social enterprise/ business model to support start-up Enterprise Innovations as part of their existing sport for sustainable development infrastructure.  

  2. Scale: Funding for social enterprises/ businesses/ entrepreneurs registered (2 years or older) to support existing impactful Enterprise Innovations to enhance, evolve, scale and aid in the sustainability thereof.  


OBJECTIVES: 

The Enterprise365 Funding Strand Aims to: 

  • Build a replicable and adaptable portfolio of social enterprise/ business models and expertise and increase the knowledge of these approaches across the global sport for sustainable development sector.   

  • Develop a connected and supportive network of social entrepreneurs in sport for sustainable development. 

  • Promote innovative income generation strategies and sustainable finance solutions in sport for sustainable development.  

  • Invest through replenishable funds in growing the support and ecosystem to enable the growth of innovation in sport for sustainable development.  

  • Seed:  

    •  Provide initial investment and resource to support the Enterprises that enable positive income generation or unique finance solutions and for innovations to be self-sustaining.  

  • Scale: 

    • Promote the potential to scale and evolve Enterprises to be fit-for-purpose, more impactful and sustainable.


WHO CAN APPLY:

Enterprsie365 is open to entities or entrepreneurs with various social enterprise, business models, innovative income generation strategies and/or sustainable finance solutions aimed at advancing and supportive of reinvesting replenishable funds into sport for sustainable development, this includes athlete and/or youth-led Enterprises. More specifically: 

  • Start-up (up to 2 years) Enterprises aligned with and those interested in integrating in sport for sustainable development. This includes those in the process of registering for Seed. 

  • Registered non-profits with evidential plans to introduce income generation models and/ or sustainable finance solutions into existing sport for sustainable development work for Seed. 

  • Existing (2 years of older) Enterprises who currently work with or are interested in working with sport for sustainable development for Scale. 


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Enterprises must be aligned with the intentional use of sport or physical activity as an enabler to support social change and achieve sustainable development.  
  • Enterprises must demonstrate an income generation model, sustainable finance solution and/ or replenishable funds model to be used in sport for sustainable development. 
  • Enterprises must benefit lower-income, vulnerable, disenfranchised, or underserved communities. This may be done through the investment avenues of profits.

  • Seed: 

    • Grants must be used to start up or support the early development of Enterprises (up to 2 years) and their innovations to gain insight and provide impact reporting and learnings. 

      or 

    • Registered non-profits with the opportunity to start-up an Enterprise within existing sport for sustainable development work. 

      or

    • Applicants with a clear strategy (required in the application) to register as an Enterprise and integrate into sport for sustainable development. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. 

    • Applicants must be willing to be paired as a mentee to a mentor of a more established Enterprise (Scale Tier) as part of Enterprise365

  • Scale: 

    • Grants must be used to enhance, evolve, scale and aid in the sustainability of existing registered Enterprises (older than 2 years) and their innovations.  

    • Registered Enterprises with an income generation model and/ or using sustainable finance solution integrated within or with the aim of integrating into sport for sustainable development. 

    • Applicants must be willing to be paired as a mentor to a mentee of a newly established/ establishing Enterprise (Seed Tier) as part of Enterprise365. 


HOW MUCH CAN YOU APPLY FOR? 

Funding amount per Enterprise: 

  • Seed: Up to $40,000 USD for 18 months for 3 Enterprises. 

  • Scale: Up to $60,000 USD for 18 months for 3 Enterprises. 


REVIEW AND SELECTION PROCESS:

Enterprise365 applications will be evaluated via an internal shortlisting process and a participatory independent Judging Panel that leverages external and expert voices in decision-making. 

  • Internal review process to disqualify applications that are not eligible and aligned to the Enterprise365 strand or the O365 Innovation Hub.  

  • An internal evaluation to identify a shortlist for the next evaluation phase with a Judging Panel. 

  • The Judging Panel will consist of 5 experts with diverse experience in social enterprise models, sport for sustainable development, and social innovation will evaluate applications using in a quadratic voting as part of a collective decision-making process. The quadratic voting totals will be added to produce the top three for each tier (Seed and Scale).  

  • A final Judges meeting will be held to finalise and agree on a recommendation (top three for each tier (Seed and Scale) to be approved by the Consortia.  

  • Grant funding is subject to passing Due Diligence prior to any awards. 


EVALUATION CRITERIA:

The following criteria will be used to evaluate applications for funding: 

  • Clarity and comprehensiveness of the problem or gap presented, that is context-specific with clear, credible evidence and a clear alignment with the Enterprise’s purpose.  

  • Connection and understanding of the income generation market, disaggregation of the target direct beneficiaries, alignment to the problem identified and the locations of where the Enterprise operates.  

  • Depth of the impact being made, demonstrating positive or beneficial change to the target and problem identified, evidencing the value added of the innovative Enterprise as a solution.  

  • Alignment of the Enterprise to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through and in sport or physical activity and the connection to the problem and target identified. 

  • Feasibility and strength of the Enterprise model and its income generation potential or sustainable finance solutions that benefit the target and support as a solution to the problems identified. 

  • Innovation strength of the Enterprise overall. 

  • Clarity of the amount in USD applied for and the financial projections of how the funds would be used to support the Enterprise in meeting its objectives and aid in its sustainability, with connections to the identified problem, target, and SDGs. 


LANGUAGE:

We endeavour for the Olympism365 Innovation Hub to be inclusive of groups from across the world, and language accessibility is a huge part of this. Due to constraints on our internal capacity, written applications will be reviewed in English.
